A Regenerative Treatment Prepared From Your Own Blood
Platelet-rich plasma, usually shortened to PRP, is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The sample is processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and concentrate the platelets it contains.
At Tanuva Aesthetics PRP is used in two main ways: injected into the scalp as part of a hair and scalp rejuvenation plan, and used on the face, either injected into selected areas or applied during microneedling. Because the preparation comes from your own blood, treatment always begins with an assessment of your suitability.
Book Your Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation with our doctor-led team.
How It Works
A small blood sample is taken in clinic, much like a routine blood test. The sample is spun in a centrifuge, which separates the components of the blood and allows us to draw off the platelet-rich portion of the plasma.
Platelets contain naturally occurring growth factors. Reintroducing this concentrated preparation into the scalp or facial skin is intended to support the skin and follicular environment over a course of treatments. Treatment is normally planned as a course, with a review of your response as you progress.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about PRP treatment. Suitability is always confirmed at consultation, as PRP is not appropriate for everyone.
Can PRP be used for hair and for my face in the same appointment?
Often, yes. For example, we may prepare two tubes and use one portion for scalp injections and the other with microneedling for the face. This allows both concerns to be addressed within a single personalised appointment where it is appropriate for you.
How many sessions are needed?
PRP is normally planned as a course rather than a single treatment, with maintenance sessions afterwards for some clients. The number and spacing of sessions depends on your concern and your response, and is agreed with you at consultation.
Is PRP suitable for everyone?
No. Certain medical conditions, blood disorders, some medications, pregnancy and breastfeeding may mean PRP is not suitable. We review your medical history at consultation and will tell you if we do not consider it appropriate for you.
What is the difference between PRP and PRF?
Both are prepared from your own blood, but they are processed differently. PRF is spun at different settings and contains a fibrin structure that allows growth factors to be released more gradually. Some clients have a course that combines the two, depending on the plan agreed at consultation.
Does it hurt?
Most clients tolerate it well. The blood draw feels like a routine blood test, and numbing cream can be used where appropriate. Scalp injections can feel sharp briefly, and the face is usually more comfortable when combined with microneedling after numbing.
When will I see a difference?
Changes develop gradually rather than immediately, usually over weeks to months and across a course of treatments. Response varies between individuals and cannot be guaranteed, which is why we review your progress as you go.
