Resurfacing for Congested, Uneven-Looking Skin
The algae peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment that uses fine marine-derived spicules applied to the skin. It is generally chosen by clients whose main concerns are congestion, uneven tone or a rough-looking texture.
It is a more active treatment than a standard facial, and the skin usually goes through a short period of shedding afterwards. How much visible peeling occurs varies between individuals, and some clients see very little.
Book Your Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation with our doctor-led team.
How It Works
During the treatment, fine spicules are worked into the surface of the skin. These create a controlled stimulus that encourages the skin to shed its outer layer over the following days, which is what leads to the resurfacing effect.
As the skin renews, the appearance of texture, tone and congestion may improve. The process takes place over several days after your appointment rather than immediately, and the aftercare you follow during that period matters.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the algae peel. Because this treatment has an active shedding phase, timing and aftercare are worth planning.
How much will my skin peel?
This varies considerably between individuals. Some clients have noticeable shedding over several days, while others have very little visible peeling but still see a change in how their skin looks and feels.
How long should I leave before an event?
We usually suggest allowing at least a week to ten days before an important event, so any shedding phase has passed. We can plan timing with you when you book.
Is it uncomfortable?
Most clients describe a prickling or tingling sensation during and after the treatment, which settles over the first day or two. We explain what to expect beforehand so nothing takes you by surprise.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your skin and your concern. Some clients have a single treatment, while others have a planned course with suitable intervals to allow the skin to recover fully in between.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
We usually advise leaving the skin bare for the period explained at your appointment, and keeping products minimal during the shedding phase to get the best from the treatment.
Is it suitable for sensitive or reactive skin?
Not always. This is an active treatment, and certain skin conditions, recent treatments or medications may mean it is not appropriate. Your skin is assessed at consultation and a gentler option may be recommended instead.
