Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are selected to suit your skin and concerns, so strength and formulation vary from client to client.

Exfoliation Chosen to Suit Your Skin
Chemical peels use carefully selected solutions to exfoliate the surface of the skin and encourage renewal. They range from gentle, refreshing peels with little visible shedding through to stronger resurfacing treatments.
There is no single peel that suits everyone. At Tanuva Aesthetics the formulation and strength are chosen following a skin assessment, taking account of your concerns, your skin type and what you can accommodate in terms of downtime.
Book Your Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation with our doctor-led team.
How It Works
The solution is applied to the prepared skin and left for a controlled period, which is determined by the peel being used and how your skin responds during the treatment. It loosens the bonds between surface skin cells so that they shed more readily.
As those cells shed over the following days, the skin underneath is revealed and its natural renewal process is encouraged. Stronger peels produce more visible shedding and require more downtime; gentler peels may produce very little.

Downtime & Aftercare
- Redness, tightness and mild sensitivity are common in the first day or two
- Flaking or shedding may follow, usually over three to seven days, depending on the peel used
- Do not pick or peel the skin; let it shed naturally
- Avoid retinoids, acids, scrubs and exfoliating tools until you are advised otherwise
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming, strenuous exercise and direct sun during the shedding phase
- Use a high factor SPF every day, as the skin is more sensitive to sunlight afterwards

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about chemical peels. The right peel depends on your skin, so these answers are general and your plan will be individual.
Which peel is right for me?
That is decided at your skin assessment. We take account of your concerns, your skin type, your usual skincare and how much downtime you can accommodate, then recommend a suitable strength and formulation.
Will my skin visibly peel?
It depends on the peel. Gentler peels often produce little visible shedding, while stronger peels produce more noticeable flaking for several days. We tell you what to expect before treatment so you can plan.
How many peels will I need?
Many clients have a course with planned intervals, particularly for concerns such as pigmentation or congestion. Others have occasional maintenance peels. Your plan is agreed at consultation and reviewed as you progress.
Can I have a peel if I use retinoids?
Usually you will be asked to pause certain active ingredients for a period before and after treatment. Tell us about everything you use, including prescribed products, so we can advise you properly.
Are peels suitable during pregnancy?
Some treatments are not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please tell us at consultation so we can advise you on what is suitable for you at this time.
Can peels be combined with other treatments?
They can form part of a wider plan alongside treatments such as microneedling, with sensible spacing between appointments. We will set out a schedule that allows your skin to recover between treatments.
