PRF – Platelet-Rich Fibrin
PRF is also prepared from your own blood, but processed differently from PRP so that growth factors are released more gradually.

A Slower-Release Regenerative Preparation
Platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF, is prepared from a sample of your own blood using a different processing method to PRP. It is spun at lower speeds and without certain additives, which allows a fibrin structure to form within the preparation.
That fibrin matrix holds platelets and white cells within it, so the naturally occurring growth factors are released gradually rather than all at once. At Tanuva Aesthetics, PRF may be used for facial rejuvenation, for selected facial areas, for the under-eye area following individual assessment, and for scalp and hair rejuvenation.

Every treatment begins with a consultation with our doctor-led team.
How It Works
A small blood sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge using a protocol designed to preserve the fibrin. No anticoagulant is used, which is what allows the fibrin structure to form naturally.
The resulting preparation can be injected into the planned areas, or, when an appropriate liquid PRF preparation and protocol are used, applied alongside microneedling. Because PRF sets over a short period once prepared, it is used promptly during your appointment.
Concerns It May Help With

- The appearance of fine lines and crepey-looking skin
- Hollowing or shadowing in the under-eye area, following assessment
- Thinning hair and scalp concerns
- A preference for a preparation derived from your own blood
- A wish for a gradual, staged approach to rejuvenation
Potential Benefits

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about PRF. As with all regenerative treatments, suitability is confirmed following consultation and medical assessment.
How is PRF different from PRP?
Both come from your own blood. PRP is processed with an anticoagulant and delivers its growth factors sooner, while PRF is processed without additives and forms a fibrin structure that releases them more gradually. The choice between them, or a combination of both, depends on your concern and your assessment.
Can PRF be used under the eyes?
PRF may be used in the under-eye area, but only after individual assessment. This is a delicate area and it is not suitable for everyone. At consultation we assess the area carefully and explain whether we consider it appropriate for you.
How much swelling should I expect?
Swelling varies between individuals and depends on the area treated and the volume used. Some clients have little; others have noticeable swelling for a few days, particularly around the eyes. We suggest planning treatment away from important events.
How many treatments will I need?
PRF is usually planned as a course, with the number of sessions and the interval between them agreed at consultation. Some clients have PRF alongside PRP or other regenerative treatments as part of a personalised plan.
Can PRF be combined with microneedling?
Yes, when an appropriate liquid PRF preparation and protocol are used. This is decided at your appointment based on your treatment plan and the areas being addressed.
Is there anything that would prevent me having PRF?
Certain blood conditions, some medications, active skin infection in the area, pregnancy and breastfeeding are among the factors that may mean PRF is not suitable. Your medical history is reviewed before any treatment is agreed.
